3/21/2023 0 Comments Colette pichon battle![]() Some people were happy about it, most people in South Louisiana were not. And let's use toxic dispersants that are banned in Europe for their human impact, for their known human impact-the cancer-causing properties of this stuff-let's spray it on South Louisiana.” And that's what they did. And if that wasn't bad enough, BP, the federal government, several other people, said, “Let's sink the oil floating on the top by spraying toxic dispersant on it. 3.1 million barrels- three hundred million gallons-of oil, not regular oil, heavy crude oil. Five years after we were recovering from Katrina, and the levee breaches and the floods, just when people were starting to come out of the trauma that follows a disaster like that, there was a massive disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. I asked my trial friends to help me with that. But something about that seems a little illegal, and I think we have some civil claims to that. ![]() I'm not sure how to calculate that I'm willing to work with you all to figure out how that's gonna break down. There were armed sheriffs on the bridge of the Crescent City connection telling people that they could not get out, and sen them back into Orleans Parish. I don't know if you heard, but in the middle of the storm, people literally tried to leave the city get away from the water that was slowly rising. Next on the list is the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. And when they do the calculations for the civil part of the trial, we would appreciate if you would value Black lives the way white lives get valued when these kind of things happen. We just want damages for all the Black people they killed. The third on my list is the New Orleans Police Department. Turns out you can't sue the federal government for damages when the Army Corps of Engineers is at fault. What was found out at trial was that those levees were not built to the standards they were set to, and the standards that were set were not good enough to protect that city. New Orleans was 80% underwater, not because of Katrina, but because of levees that broke. Because it was actually the failure of levees built by our federal government that flooded an entire city. The second damages on my list go to the federal government. Whatever that equals, we'll take those damages. I don't know how much money that will be, but if you could just restore the south of Louisiana, that would be okay. The first thing I want to mention is we're waiting for damages from the oil companies that dredged canals in the lower part of Louisiana and allowed for the salt water intrusion to destroy the marshes that protect the land. And one of the roles I found over the last ten years was just keeping a list of all of the things that we should be receiving damages for. Interestingly enough, in disaster work, there's a lot of different roles for lawyers. ![]() I'm not one of those, I hate trial, I don't like speaking in front of folks. What I did make was a list of damages, so I thought you'd appreciate that. ![]() I was told I was talking to some lawyers today, so I don't have an inspirational talk. There was a thirty-foot tidal surge off the Gulf of Mexico and my community was completely underwater. Where people live with water all the time, it had never come up that far. Our community, so says the oldest people there, who gave us testimony after the storm, said the water had never been that high. My community has been in Slidell, Louisiana, actually just outside, since the 1770s. I'll go home for a little while.” But what I didn't understand as a movement leader was how much injustice was located in the middle of disaster. There was one thing I understood as a lawyer: they might need some help with paperwork. And it took about two weeks before I knew everyone in my family was okay. I checked on my family, and the next day we saw these images. Best couple of years of my life, loved every minute of it.Īnd then there was this really big storm in the Gulf. Beautiful Black people, beautiful suits, nice cars, they go to museums, they eat out. to achieve success? It's a whole bunch of success out there. Anybody feeling me? Any Black lawyers out here move to D.C. The first question that most folks from the Gulf Coast get when we're in places like New York is, “Where were you when Katrina hit?” Well, I was in D.C., practicing corporate law, trying to achieve success. It's so great to be here-thank you for having me. 3/21/2023 0 Comments Wargame red dragon marine deckWe spotted their fleet, took it apart with enormous trains of planes, and then the STRBs killed their spawn cv. Our last teammate had a conventional fleet, and I airspamed, with choppers for scouting. One brought airspam, the other brought STRB spam. ![]() Two of our players were on teamspeak with each other. It was about that onesided, and was a good demonstration of what tools are available to Blue. Just had another game, which lasted almost exactly as long as the Final Countdown soundtrack suite on youtube, which I was listening to at the time. I find helos more useful for vision than attack, though, since they carry relatively few missiles and therefore can't break the CIWS screen except in enormous numbers, which are harder to concentrate than enormous plane numbers. Air is especially effective against moving targets, since they rarely keep formation. Since they are untargettable by AShMs, they require a commitment of decent surface ships to stop. Most people don't put a lot of forces on the flanks, so a swarm of STRBs can swing around and kill the spawn CV if RED isn't careful. Once my homework is done, I will have to go learn to use it.Įxterminatus and Magni have made some very good observations, I think. Obviously, the opponent's cooperation can't be relied on in the future, but I still feel like BLUFOR has a better toolkit than I initially thought. Final score was something like 5000 to 1100, with my initial losses accounting for most of that. Despite some big PACT air attacks to snipe our reinforcement corridors (this seems to be one of the best ways to use air overall), we controlled the center, and quickly pushed on for TD victory. The other part of our force came around and flanked them, and in the end, we had successfully outmaneuvered and defeated the deathball. So one third of our force engaged in a close range gun battle with them as they came around the corner, and frankly tore them up with Lafayettes and Superhornet support. The other flanked around the center area as it turned out, they had put literally everything they had into that attack. One of their fleets was hiding behind the kilo rocks to avoid the moskits, and my Perry joined up with them. ![]() By the time I realized just how much stuff they had, it was too late to escape, and only my supply ship and one crippled Perry survived.įortunately, my allies had been on top of things. ![]() We had split our navies into three small blobs, one for each of us, and thanks to my lack of appreciation for the importance of naval helos for scouting, mine was the one heading straight towards them down the center lane. ![]() They all had 90% win rates and the other trappings of pubstompers, and as soon as the game started, they sent a giant deathball right down the center with 3 sovs and an absolute cloud of tarantuls and other trappings. There were drafts of plans to modify the Draken to carry AShM (this was a significant rebuild, and not seriously pursued).Īnd, of course, the navy had only very small ships- corvettes, FAC, a few obsolete "frigates" (all decommissioned by 1980) - a small army (coastal artillery and kustjägare), and boats - patrol boats and submarines. The Sk 60 lacked the ability, but modifications may have been possible. Meanwhile, maritime strike on the Baltic was basically, alongside air defense and logistical strike, the raison d'être of the Swedish airforce, and all Swedish attack aircraft (ie Lansen, Viggen, Gripen) had the ability to carry AShM. Many of the army units - the Pbv 302, Ikv 91, Strv 103(!) - were amphibious, but that was for crossing rivers and lakes, which Sweden has a lot of. Certainly silly - Swedish amphibious units were almost entirely defensive in nature (as in - no expeditionary capability outside the Swedish, and hypothetically the Finnish, Danish or maybe Norwegian and Baltic archipelagoes - as long as they don't have to cross open sea, or can do so with no enemy air or naval forces disrupting them), an outgrowth of the coastal artillery - up until the end of the Cold War, Kustjägare tended to operate in Company sized elements, with Battalions being late comers going operational in the eighties.Įxpeditionary capability - essentially zero. 3/21/2023 0 Comments Jbs pilgrims![]() With the deals announced Wednesday, it will be the largest beef producing company in Brazil, Australia, Argentina and Italy. Try to unlearn everything you have so far about how to froth milk. Remember: we aren’t going for frothed milk, but for foam. This will let air get inside and it will make a lot of bubbles. Instead of holding the frother down at the bottom of the pitcher or container, bring it to the surface. If you’re using an electrical frother instead of a steam wand, the same holds true. Repeat this step as many times as you need to in order to achieve the foam that you want. Do this in a slow motion, never letting it rest in one position for longer than a couple seconds: bring it closer to the surface, watch the whirling motion go for two seconds, then bring it back down. To aerate the milk, you need to bring the steam wand much closer to the surface than usual. We have here a few tips for you to get a better foam and therefore a much better cappuccino: #1 Aerate the milk as much as you need toĪerating the milk aids the formation of bubbles which, as long as you do it in moderation, will result in a better foam. Tipsįoaming milk isn’t so easy as the recipes might make it seem. Sometimes it’s better to do it in separate pitchers. Start foaming the milk use a bigger container than usual because there’s gonna be a lot of foam.Pour about 20ml of milk, then the rest should be all foam.Take a spoon and push the foam towards the sides so you can see the bottom to tell how much milk there is left. Foam or froth the milk until almost all of it has been foamed.Since we like to do things ourselves, here is a couple of simple recipes for you- one for the regular dry cappuccino and one for the bone dry cappuccino. Now that we know exactly what it is, the only thing left for us is to try it and see what all the fuzz is about. However, we have to admit that there is a lot to enjoy with this kind of drink- so we won’t hold its vagueness against it. You could order a latte with extra foam and it would be indistinguishable from a super wet cappuccino. On the other hand, we got the super wet cappuccino, which inhabits a very vague area between a latte and a cappuccino. It’s so dry, Zach Galifianakis endorses it. The bone dry cappuccino is an even drier version made by using absolutely no milk, just foam. You can have a regular cappuccino and a dry cappuccino- but what about going even further?īecause we coffee lovers are impossibly nit picky and particular about our coffee, there are different ways to go about a cappuccino that go beyond a dry cappuccino. Like with everything, there is a spectrum. In contrast, a regular cappuccino is made up of almost the same amount of milk and foam, with just a slightly bigger amount of foam than milk. ![]() The rest is just espresso (usually two shots). To be precise, a dry cappuccino should be almost all foam with only a little bit of steamed milk. It is equal parts strong coffee and equal parts fluffy goodness. ![]() The result is a more pronounced coffee flavor, a lighter type of coffee that does, in fact, feel dry because of the sensation you get when there’s so much foam.įor foam lovers, the dry cappuccino is probably a drink made in heaven. Dry Cappuccino key is in the name: it’s dry because it’s got a lot less steamed milk than a regular cappuccino.
